NCAG Says Handover of Institutions Enables Transitional Management

(MENAFN) The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) stated on Saturday that recent declarations by the Gaza administration expressing readiness to hand over public institutions create the conditions for the committee to fully assume its responsibilities during the transitional phase.

In a statement, the NCAG, formed following the October ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, said it “views the recent expression of readiness for an orderly transition as a pivotal step in fulfilling its mandate as the transitional administration of Gaza.”

Gaza’s media office reiterated on Thursday its call for the committee to begin its duties, while Hamas has repeatedly expressed willingness to facilitate the NCAG’s work.

“We emphasize that full administrative, civilian, and police control by the NCAG is not merely procedural; NCAG cannot be expected to carry responsibility without the full administrative, civilian, and police powers necessary to implement its mandate effectively,” the statement said.

The committee did not specify when it will start operating from Gaza. Currently, the NCAG has been conducting its work from Cairo since mid-January. Its entry into Gaza requires coordination with field and security authorities through crossings controlled by Israel, which has not yet provided any official comment on the matter.

The NCAG emphasized that gaining the ability to operate efficiently and independently in Gaza would “unlock international support for recovery, reconstruction, secure a complete Israeli withdrawal, and restore normal daily life.”
